New Feature: Custom DB Number Sort

Female at desk working with a spreadsheet on laptop: NestForms offline surveys, the best surveyor app!

Managing large numbers of Custom DB rows can quickly become difficult - especially when your team is working across multiple projects or dealing with similar data sets. That’s why NestForms has introduced a new Custom DB Number Sort feature to help you keep your data organised and easy to navigate.

By default, the Custom DB Rows are sorted alphabetically. However, this is not ideal when you are picking the rows based on the Ids or numbers. This new feature allows you to sort your Custom DB Rows as numbers, making it much easier to find the exact dataset you need.

What is the difference when using Number Sort?

Sorting numbers alphabetically can lead to unexpected results. For example, 12, 5, and 1 sorted alphabetically would be 1, 12, 5. To get the expected order of 1, 5, 12, it is necessary to sort them numerically.

Only unique

If you have a standard Custom DB, then each row is unique and you should not need this feature. However, in some scenarios you might use one Custom DB for multiple purposes.

Real World Example

In one form, you might want to have a detailed selection of the specific address. And in the second one, you want to select only street names. So in the second form, you simply pick in the dropdown component the street column from Custom DB and then tick the Only unique option.

As a result, when you will be filling details inside the app, you’ll have a simplified list with streets from your Custom DB where each name is listed only once.
